Sun Exercise / Suryanamaskar

This is a twelve-step exercise involving well-balanced movements, which tone up the body systems symmetrically by regular practice. Stiffness is removed. Blood circulation is stimulated. The endocrine glands are harmonized and the nervous system is toned up. This exercise removes congestion of abdominal viscera, relieves indigestion and reduces fat. Peristalsis (bowel movement) improves significantly. The spine becomes supple, and backache owing to defects in the spine is cured. Sun exercise provides good health, dynamism and vitality.

1 round consists of 12 steps, of which each step breathing is indicated below:
  • Step 1: Breath out
  • Step 2: Breath in
  • Step 3: Breath out
  • Step 4: Breath in
  • Step 5: Hold the breath
  • Step 6: Breath out
  • Step 7: Breath in
  • Step 8: Breath out
  • Step 9: Breath in
  • Step 10: Breath out
  • Step 11: Breath in
  • Step 12: Breath out
